Well there's the one my sister used to make up for me, but then there's the Story of the Seasons. It's about the Four Maidens, who were all sisters, Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall.
[ she tilts her head to the side. ]
Although...I recently learned that it isn't just a fairytale and that those four sister really existed. And that their power is passed down to this very day.
[ wheezes in oversharing. she got talking about it and could not stop. i'm so sorry. ]
That is kind of what happened...humanity just slowly forgot over the years.
[ frowns. ]
My uncle said people started hunting the maidens down, so a special group was formed to protect them and their powers. They decided keeping them a secret was the safest way, their existence just slowly faded away.
Powers are a funny thing, huh. They should be able to protect you against anyone, but instead they just make you more of a target. A lot of people don't seem to understand that.

thankfully she has a high dex (and i rolled a 19), so she's able to stop the stack from completely smacking her in the face. ]
Whoa! [ some books hit the floor, while she fumbles to hold the rest in her arms. ]
no subject
[he asks, those book corners hurt.... they probably stabbed him a little when he almost dropped them]
no subject
It’s okay! I’m alright, been attacked by worse.
[ gives him a thumbs up! ] What about you? That’s a lot of books to drop all at once.
no subject
Yeah, I think I got carried away... I've never seen this many books about fairy tales in one place.
Guess I should have just... separated them into two stacks instead.
no subject
It's pretty easy to get carried away when it comes to fairytales. [ nod nod ]
I can help! At least get them to a table, so they don't fall over again.
[ she's already bending down to pick up the ones off the floor. ]
no subject
[he'll get the other stack in the meantime]
You're Ruby, right? I'm Itsuki Kagami.
no subject
[ books gathered ✔️ ]
That's me! Ruby Rose! [ she sticks her hand out, but then fumbles and has to take it back, so the books don't hit the floor again. oops. ]
Nice to meet you, Itsuki.
no subject
You too, Ru-chan. [why did he shorten her name so much when it's already short] So what kind of books are you looking to read?
no subject
the nickname makes her smile. ]
Fairytales, too! They’re my favorite type to read and the best, in my opinion.
Do you have a favorite?
no subject
Mm, it's hard to choose... I like all of them. But, if I had to pick... I like Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and the Little Red Riding Hood.
[itsuki and his canon favorites]
no subject
Oooo! Those are actually new to me! I’ll have to read them!
[ ruby, who’s design is based off of red riding hood. looks at the rwby universe. ]
no subject
he looks surprised a little]
Yeah? Which ones are your favorite then?

[ she tilts her head to the side. ]

for his part, Itsuki doesn't look disbelieving so much as he does surprised,]
A fairy tale that's actually true? [...] What, did everyone just kind of forget that those sisters existed?

[ ... ]
I've lost some very important people to me, because of that.
no subject
...I'm sorry. It sucks to lose people you care about no matter the reason.
[he leans in a little to nudge her,]
At least for every power hungry asshole, there's people like us who know better, yeah?
[it's not very comforting he knows, but]
no subject
It's alright, hopefully I can help put a stop to the ones responsible...
[ she nudges back.
and hey, it worked for her! ]
You're right about that, though. There's got to be some people who are willing to make things better, even if it's only a little. Every bit counts.
no subject
Put a stop, huh? So are you a... police officer? Lawyer?
[he doesn't sound doubtful, but he is curious]
