Some experience is better than none. [he starts making a crown] I've never interacted with a ghost before -- or if I have, they never made it this obvious.
[ Danny gives a small shrug and keeps his voice casual and his eyes on a corner of the room ]
She said something about teens being a great source of angst and suffering. She'd go call in students one by one, find whatever they were most insecure about, and pick at it and pick at it until they were nervous wrecks, or lost the will to live. Then she'd send them out and bring the next kid in, like a well-oiled factory machine.
By the time the school spirit week came around, she'd gotten to just about every student in the school. It was like walking through a sea of zombies--no one had any energy to care about...well, anything. The only one she hadn't messed with yet was my sister. She had...a special plan for her.
[ Danny hunches in on himself a little with a wince, rubbing the back of his neck. ]
Uh...no. I, uh, I...was...out of it at the time. You know, school counselor sucking my will to live and all. And I didn't hear about any of this until after it all went down!
But uh, basically, the school spirit week was supposed to have this like spirit show assembly led by my sister. And as part of it they were doing like...a set of sparklers all lined up and set to go off like dominoes? But the counselor rigged it so that the last sparkler would set off a bomb right where my sister was on stage and killed her in front of everybody. Something about, the grief and tragedy of everybody seeing the happiest girl in school get killed would be enough to keep her young forever.
Lucky for everyone, another ghost heard what she was planning to do and managed to get my sister out of there before she could get hurt.
...I've never really thought that deeply about ghosts before. I know they're supposed to have grudges or resentment, but it's always been kind of abstract.
Trust me, I didn't think about them that deeply either until they started showing up everywhere. I don't think anyone did. Except for my parents, maybe.
I guess, but it's not nearly as interesting. My parents were just the local kooks trying to hunt down things that don't exist. Then one day they built a portal to the dimension ghosts come from, and now there's been enough ghosts all over town that no one can deny that they're real.
[ look that wedding is all just set dressing for this conversation, which is clearly far more important than a loving union between two deads ]
What? No. Why would they do that? That portal is like, their life's work. Plus, it gives them super easy access to ghosts and their dimension for research and stuff.

Surprise me. I have to tell you though, I don't scare easy.

Let's see...well, one time the new counselor the school hired was secretly a ghost who fed on suffering and depression to keep young.

...And they chose a school for that? [are schools that bad...]

He blinks rapidly,]
A special plan that you stopped, right?
[he's assuming that danny stopped her because well, if his sister had been in danger like that itsuki would do the same?
he's still trying to reconcile the idea that danny is not an expert on ghost STORIES... no, he apparently knows ghosts??]

That is scary! I'm glad your sister was rescued, but that whole part about the bomb and being young forever? Scary!

i forgot they were doing wedding stuff okay itsuki's just making swans out of folded napkins, but his attention is mostly on Danny]
So it's just been like that? Are they working on a way to reverse it?
