Short story -- under certain conditions, when Awakeners fight each other you trigger a "rivalry". Win the rivalry, and you absorb the power of the Divine Knight you defeat. With the Great Twilight up and running, it's kind of a Last Man Standing situation.

Metaphorically speaking. Like... three of them are still alive? So it's just a "keep your Knight or lose them" sort of situation for them.
